It was in 2010 that I first saw the guitar. Until then, I didn’t know how guitar looked, though my teachers theoretically taught in the class. One fine evening, I went to a local chapel in Sarpang with my parents to pray. It was that evening when I was attracted to play guitar. I found a person leading a prayer meeting playing guitar so beautifully and singing along with it. I found it so cool, and I genuinely wanted to try out and learn to play guitar. Although I didn’t have the courage to ask and touch that red glowing guitar on that evening, I was attracted by it so much. From that day onwards, I visited the chapel every weekend just to see that guitar.
For a few weeks, I couldn’t put the courage to ask to use this red guitar. But very soon, I made a good connection with the person in charge of that guitar, and I genuinely asked him to teach me. Then he came outside with that guitar and gave it to me. I was so excited to touch and feel that red guitar. As I plugged the strings, it just produced a random sound, which was totally an unpleasant noise. He took it back and taught me first guitar cord “A” with one of strumming patterns. Then, I put all my effort to learn that cord and strumming patterns. I went twice in that local chapel in a week, so I got two times to touch that red guitar and learn in a week. Every week, he taught me one new cord and one new strumming pattern. He was my only mentor. I am thankful that he didn’t hesitate to teach me. I made lots of mistakes and irritated him while learning. After a year of enormous interest and practice, I could at least learn a few cords and strumming patterns with difficulty. But my interest in guitar grew stronger every day.
